C.E.O. & Founder of Officially The Hottest : Akash [Interview]

.

Tell us a brief bio of your background with music and why you love it.
I grew up listening to Hip-Hop music, reason why I love music is because you can easily relate to it, music is apart of life.

What inspired you to start the website.
I really look up to people like Pete Cashmore, Yousef Khraibut and of course Mark Zuckerberg, mainly because they've also started their projects at a young age and ended up becoming a huge success. I know it's a tough business but if you love what you do and continue to do it then you can reach high places.

How has your job changed from the start to now?
Back in November 2010 (when we first started), I was the only one writing/working for the site, I would normally do movie reviews, technology and of course music. As time went on I started to do interviews with people in the entertainment industry and that started to improve our audience. 2011 was the year we started to build up the site and get organized. My cousin, Atul used to write for OTH with my friend Vishal (Pre$tige). As time went on, Atul stopped writing and Vishal would continue to write for music. Later that year we had many others joining us. Shiksha for "Celebrity Gossip," Ashish and Kuba for "Global News," Brittney Trackstarr for "Hip-Hop News," and Kobe for "Social Networking/Alternative Music News." We also have Joshua S. Lawrence who contributes to the site.

In 2011 we took down movie reviews and technology and started to focus more on the music/gossip and global news. Our demographics are mainly teenagers and adults and we want teenagers to be updated on the latest music news and gossip, but we also want them to know about the news that is happening globally.

What are your goals for the site?
Expansion. 2011 was our warm up year. 2012 is going to be a whole lot different, we'll have more writers joining us, which means more content. We're also trying to do more interviews with upcoming artists and established artists. We're hoping to start doing video interviews and of course release Officially The Hottest Jr. for kids and young adults.

If you could meet and work with anyone from the business,
who would it be and why?
I would really love to meet Jay-Z, not because of his music but because of his label Roc-A-Fella/Roc Nation, opening my own record label is something I would really love to do.

What are your top 3 songs?
- Drake - "The Fear"
- Tyga ft. Wale & Nas - "Kings and Queens"
- Joell Ortiz - "Stay Schemin (Freestyle)"

Besides the website, what do you do for fun? any hobbies?
Normally I'm out with my friends, watching movies, attending concerts and listening to music.

In conclusion, what do you want people to know most about you?
There's not really much to say. I'm 16-years-old, I made OfficiallyTheHottest.com when I was 15, I listen to a lot of music even from upcoming artists and I am proud of what I have accomplished at such a young age with no help from companies. Just me and my team.
